Israeli forces eliminate battalion commander of Hamas’ Zeitoun unit in Gaza
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) have carried out a precision strike eliminating the deputy commander of Hamas’ Gaza Brigade, according to an official military statement.
“On Wednesday, the IDF and ISA struck and eliminated the terrorist Imad Hassan Hussein Aslim, the Deputy Commander of the Gaza Brigade and the Commander of the Zeitoun Battalion in Hamas' Military Wing, who commanded the battalion’s terrorists infiltration into Israeli territory during the brutal October 7th massacre.
In recent years, and particularly during recent times, Aslim has advanced dozens of imminent attacks against IDF soldiers operating in the Gaza Strip, posing an immediate threat to them,” the statement said.
The military added that another Hamas commander was also present at the targeted site during the strike, and that the results of his elimination are still under verification.
“IDF troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” the statement concluded.
