Israeli forces strike Hamas fighters in northern Gaza Strip
The Israel Defence Forces said its troops killed armed militants from Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip after identifying them as an immediate threat.
According to an IDF statement, the incident occurred earlier on Friday, when troops operating under the Southern Command detected armed individuals in close proximity to their positions in northern Gaza.
“Earlier today (Friday), IDF troops under the Southern Command identified armed Hamas terrorists in the northern Gaza Strip, who operated adjacent to the troops and posed a threat. In order to remove the threat, the terrorists were eliminated in an aerial strike,” the statement said.
“Prior to the strike, multiple measures were taken to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance,” the IDF added.
“IDF troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” it said.
