Israeli forces strike Lebanon despite ceasefire, casualties reported
Israeli forces carried out a drone strike in the vicinity of the town of Jabbour in Lebanon’s Western Bekaa region in central Lebanon, despite a ceasefire being in effect.
The attack left 1 person dead and 2 others injured, Caliber.Az reports, citing Al Jazeera.
Earlier, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) accused the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire by attacking Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.
The IDF said Hezbollah fired several rockets at Israeli military positions south of the defensive line near the Rab Thalathin area in southern Lebanon.
The escalation comes shortly after the first round of direct talks between Israel and Lebanon on April 14.
The sides reached a 10-day ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on April 17.
