Israeli forces uncover weapons cache during tunnel op
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said its troops operating under the Southern Command are continuing engineering operations east of the “yellow line,” carrying out targeted drilling to locate underground tunnels and dismantle militant infrastructure both above and below ground.
According to a statement released by the IDF press service, forces from the Northern Brigade, working together with Yahalom engineering units, destroyed underground tunnel routes measuring approximately five kilometres in length in the Beit Hanoun area during the operation.
The military also reported the discovery of a weapons cache inside one of the underground tunnel routes. The cache included surveillance and tracking equipment, explosive devices, ammunition, grenades, grenade launchers, rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.
The IDF said Southern Command forces will continue operating in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, aiming to remove immediate threats and ensure the safety of residents living in Israel’s western Negev region.
