Israeli military chief says operations in Iran continue

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir said the IDF is continuing operations against multiple targets in Iran, reporting what it described as “significant preventive achievements” following overnight activity.

In a statement issued after a situation assessment on March 17,  the IDF said Israeli forces were maintaining pressure on a range of targets linked to Iran’s military and affiliated groups, Caliber.Az reports.

“The IDF continues to act with determination against multiple targets in Iran. Significant preventive achievements were recorded overnight, with potential to influence operational outcomes and the IDF missions. These follow additional significant preventive actions carried out in recent days against external elements, including those connected to the Palestinian arena,” Zamir said.

According to the statement, the assessment involved senior military leadership and focused on continuing operational efforts as part of a broader campaign against Iran and allied groups.

Zamir added that Israeli forces were targeting elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and what he described as the country’s “oppressive apparatus,” while also seeking to degrade military and industrial capabilities.

He said operations had also targeted individuals described as senior operatives from Gaza and the West Bank who were allegedly located in Tehran.

The IDF noted that operations against Hezbollah remain ongoing, particularly in efforts to counter threats along Israel’s northern border. It added that coordination with United States Central Command continues, with joint actions contributing to operational outcomes.

“We will continue to act decisively to remove threats to the residents of Israel,” Zamir said.
