Israeli military demolishes home of Hamas member linked to two attacks
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have demolished the home of Rafat Dawasi, a Hamas operative implicated in two deadly attacks in the West Bank in 2024.
The operation took place on the evening of February 17 in the town of Silat al-Harithiya, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
According to the IDF, Dawasi, who held a leadership position within Hamas in Jenin, was killed by Israeli forces on August 17, 2024, during an operation named "Iron Wall".
The Israeli military stated that Dawasi was involved in a roadside bombing in Jenin on June 27, 2024, which killed 22-year-old Captain Alon Sacgiu and injured 16 other soldiers.
He was also linked to a shooting in the Jordan Valley on August 11, 2024, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Yonatan Deutsch and wounding one other person.
The demolition of the home follows Israel’s longstanding policy of targeting the residences of Palestinians accused of carrying out lethal attacks.
While appeals against such demolitions are possible, they rarely lead to the reversal of the decision.
