Israeli military destroys key Hezbollah crossing in Lebanon
The Israel Defence Forces said it carried out an airstrike on the Zrarieh Bridge over the Litani River in Lebanon, describing the crossing as a key route used by Hezbollah.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, the bridge served as an important passage for Hezbollah fighters moving between northern and southern Lebanon.
“The terrorist organisation Hezbollah uses this bridge to move from northern to southern Lebanon in order to strengthen its capabilities and prepare for combat operations, thereby endangering Lebanese civilians and causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure,” the statement said.
The military said the strike was carried out to prevent threats to Israeli civilians and to halt what it described as ongoing harm to Lebanese residents caused by Hezbollah’s activities.
“To prevent a threat to Israeli civilians and to put an end to the ongoing harm to residents of Lebanon, it was necessary to destroy the bridge,” the statement added.
The Israel Defence Forces also said that Hezbollah had recently deployed rocket launchers near the bridge and used the area to launch rockets toward the State of Israel.
