Israeli military kills Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza Strip

The Israeli military has killed a commander involved in the weapons production network of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip.

The operation was carried out earlier this week in the Khan Younis area, where Adam Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Hadid, described as a commander within the group's weapons production apparatus, was targeted and killed in a precision strike, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).

It said the unit is responsible for manufacturing and supplying weapons to the armed wing of Islamic Jihad.

According to the military, Abu Hadid played a role in multiple stages of the weapons production process and supervised infrastructure used to manufacture arms intended for attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF personnel.

The IDF stated that Abu Hadid posed an immediate threat to troops operating in the area and was therefore targeted.

The military added that measures were taken before the strike to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.

The IDF also said forces operating under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will continue carrying out operations to eliminate potential threats.
