Israeli military says Hezbollah intelligence operative eliminated in southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces said that it carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon that killed a Hezbollah operative involved in intelligence-gathering activities against Israel.
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Office, the strike took place in the Tayibe area, where the militant had been operating to collect intelligence on IDF activity in southern Lebanon and was involved in efforts by Hezbollah to reestablish its military infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports.
“Yesterday (Tuesday), the IDF struck and eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist in the Tayibe area in southern Lebanon,” the statement said.
“The terrorist who was eliminated operated to collect intelligence regarding IDF activity in southern Lebanon and took part in Hezbollah’s attempts to reestablish its infrastructure.”
The IDF said the operative’s actions violated existing understandings between Israel and Lebanon, without elaborating on the specific arrangements.
“The terrorist’s activities constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat and defend the State of Israel,” the statement added.
