The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops operating in southern Lebanon have discovered a booby-trapped pit and a weapons storage site allegedly linked to the armed group Hezbollah.
According to the military, reservists from the 226th Brigade, under the command of the 146th Division, are conducting operations south of a designated forward defence line aimed at preventing threats to northern Israel, Caliber.Az reports.
The IDF said its forces located a pit containing an explosive device weighing approximately 900 kilograms, which it described as intended for use against military personnel operating in the area.
In a separate discovery, troops said they found a position containing mortar shells and rockets, which they stated could be used against both civilians and military targets.
The Israeli military said it continues operations in the area in line with government directives and will act against what it describes as security threats in southern Lebanon.
