Israeli police use water cannons at protest against judicial reform in Tel Aviv

Police are using a water cannon in an attempt to disperse protesters who are blocking the Ayalon Highway.

Police say they have so far detained 23 people for blocking the highway, Gazeta.ru reports citing The Times Of Israel.

On February 20, the Israeli parliament approved in the first reading a bill on judicial reform. Israeli people claim that it upsets the balance of power between the three branches in favor of the government.

Protests erupted in the country afterwards.

A high-ranking official from the entourage of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the mass protests against the government's controversial judicial reform were funded in part by the administration of US President Joe Biden.
