Israeli president visits Beit Shemesh after deadly rocket strike PHOTO

Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited the site of a rocket strike in Beit Shemesh on March 2, paying tribute to the victims and emphasizing the severity of the ongoing conflict, Mignews reports.

In his remarks, Herzog offered condolences to the families of those killed, stating: “Nine pure and righteous souls—innocent and defenseless people who were seeking shelter and following instructions—tragically lost their lives because the rocket landed directly on the roof of the shelter, destroying the synagogue above it. We are witnessing a place of great tragedy here—this shows exactly who we are dealing with and the bitter and cruel nature of our enemy.”

Highlighting the growth of Beit Shemesh from a small immigrant town to a city of 200,000 residents, the President underscored the historical importance of Israel’s current military campaign. “We are conducting a heavy campaign. This campaign is historic and truly important, and I say this to all the children of Israel as well, because I know that during the Purim holiday they would have preferred to be elsewhere, but we have no choice. Many years from now, with God’s help, when they grow up, they will be able to say: this was a decisive and historic moment, because the changes this event brings to the Middle East will be enormous, significant, and very important. We are facing an empire of evil, and it is time to cut it down,” Herzog said.

The President urged the citizens of Israel to remain united, emphasizing that the current period represents a time of decisive change for the region and a critical moment to strengthen national security.
