Israel strikes police building in Gaza, causing deaths of 17 people

The Israeli Air Force (IDF) carried out strikes on a police headquarters, a café and a motorcycle in Gaza City in the Palestinian enclave, causing the deaths of 17 people, Al Mayadeen reports.

The military said it carried out strikes against two Hamas commanders in the Gaza Strip, including one who allegedly infiltrated Israeli territory and participated in the October 7 attack.

According to the IDF, one of the strikes targeted a commander in Hamas’ military wing in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza. The targeted individual had infiltrated Israeli territory and taken part in the October 7 massacre.

Shortly afterwards, the IDF and Israel Security Agency (ISA) carried out another strike in the Tuffah area, targeting a Hamas commander who, according to the military, had been planning attacks against IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF stated that measures were taken before both strikes to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.

IDF forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operations aimed at eliminating what the military describes as immediate threats.
