Israeli tourism minister to attend UN meeting in Baku
Israeli Minister of Tourism Haim Katz is set to visit Azerbaijan to participate in the 71st meeting of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for Europe.
The high-level event will be hosted under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and will bring together tourism officials and stakeholders from across Europe, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Earlier, it was reported that Israel’s Minister of Aliyah and Integration and the Speaker of the Knesset are also expected to visit Azerbaijan on June 10 and June 25, respectively.
Azerbaijan will host the 71st meeting of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for Europe in its capital city of Baku from June 4 to 6, 2025.
The agreement to hold the meeting in Baku was formalised during the International Tourism Fair FITUR in Madrid in January, 2025.
While in Madrid, Azerbaijan also announced its candidacy for membership in the UNWTO Executive Council for the 2025–2029 term.
Note that, the decision to host the 71st meeting in Baku was made last April in Tirana, during the 70th meeting of the Regional Commission.
