Italy considers referendums in Ukraine’s Donbas, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya illegal
Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has said that Rome will not recognise the results of referendums on annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions by Russia.
“Italy will not recognise their results and confirmed the Italian government’s support for the Ukrainian authorities and population,” Draghi told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Italian prime minister’s press service.
Voting on the issue of joining Russia started on September 23, 2022 in the so-called "DPR" (Donetsk People’s Republic), "LPR" (Luhansk People’s Republic), as well as in Kherson and Zaporizhzhya and ended on September 27, 2022. According to the "electoral committees" of the districts, the overwhelming majority of people vote for joining the Russian Federation.
