Italy to strengthen gas pipeline security after Nord Stream incidents

After the Nord Stream incidents, Italy will strengthen the security of gas pipelines in the Mediterranean Sea, through which gas is supplied to the country.

The Italian authorities have developed a plan to strengthen the protection of gas pipelines having "strategic importance for the national interests", TASS reports on September 29.

Chief of the Italian Defence Staff Giuseppe Cavo Dragone has said that the key points will be controlled by two ships equipped with remotely controlled submarines.

"Surveillance on the surface" will also be strengthened and infrastructure will be checked.
