The Ministry of Defense of Japan announced the inevitability of a decisive battle with Russia on the island of Hokkaido.

According to Lenta.Ru, this is reported by the Shukan Gendai portal, citing Japanese General Yuki Yamashita, who is seriously afraid of the Russian invasion.

It is noted that Russia has already declared Japan an unfriendly country, and it is almost impossible to predict what Vladimir Putin will do next. If the invasion does happen, the front line could be the city of Asahikawa, the second-largest city in the northern Japanese prefecture.

“The Russian invasion of Hokkaido is the kind of emergency that needs to be prepared for now. At the center of the scenario of such an attack is a sharp confrontation between the United States and the Russian Federation. With a further increase in its degree, the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk, which washes Hokkaido from the northeast, become the most important theater of operations,” Yamashita shared his opinion. The general explained that it was from this area that Moscow would be able to create a threat to Washington by launching a nuclear attack submarine fleet.

In turn, the director of the Research Institute for Military and Information Strategy, Kin'ichi Nishimura, said that before the invasion, the forces of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy were secretly relocating to Sakhalin through the La Perouse Strait.
