07 October 2022 10:04
The government of Japan has approved sanctions against over 80 Russian individuals, as well as 9 organizations, the Kommersant reports.
The decision comes on the heels of the recent annexation of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine by Russia.
The sanctions target the family members of several officials, including Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitriy Medvedev, and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu.
The list also includes former rhythmic gymnast and Olympic medalist Alina Kabaeva, who, in the West, is rumoured to be romantically involved with President Putin.
