Joint Russian-Belarusian military drill exercises deploy hypersonic "Kinzhal" missile
Russia's “Kinzhal” ("Dagger" in English) hypersonic missile system has been engaged in a joint flight-tactical exercise of the aviation units of its army together with Belarus.
"The MiG-31K with the 'Kinzhal' hypersonic missile system, which can hit objects at a range of up to 2,000 km, is taking to air to identify ground targets", Interfax reports, citing a statement by the Belarusian Defence Ministry.
The ministry stressed that "there are practically no invulnerable targets for a warhead with a mass of 500 kg".
The joint aviation drills between the two armies were launched on January 16., taking place on Belarusian territory and involving all airfields and training areas of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces of Belarus Armed Forces.
The drills’ purpose was declared to be the improvement of interoperability in the joint execution of combat training tasks. It involves air reconnaissance, joint patrols over the border, air support to groups of troops, landing of tactical airborne troops, delivery of supplies and evacuation of the wounded.
