Kallas urges EU states to “share” Patriot missiles with Ukraine

EU diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas has called on EU countries that still have stocks of Patriot air defence missiles to transfer them to Ukraine in exchange for possible deliveries of newly produced missiles in the future.

“Ukraine urgently needs air defence. We are making this plea again that those who have them in stock - how they can give it to Ukraine, so that the Patriot missiles that are produced then later on will be filling their stocks,” Kallas said upon arriving for a meeting of EU defence ministers.

The appeal is primarily directed at Greece and Spain, which, according to European media reports, still have some stocks of the missiles.

In particular, POLITICO previously reported that some of Greece’s Patriot missiles were allegedly nearing their expiration dates.
