Kamala Harris hints at 2028 White House run “I am not done”

Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has suggested she may run again for the presidency in 2028, in her first interview with a UK outlet.

Speaking to the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris said she would “possibly” be president one day and expressed confidence that a woman will occupy the White House in the future.

Making her strongest indication to date of a potential presidential bid following her 2024 loss to Donald Trump, Harris dismissed polls placing her as an outsider for the Democratic nomination. She also criticised Trump, branding him a “tyrant” and saying warnings she issued during the campaign have been proven right.

Harris acknowledged questions over whether she could have run a stronger campaign in 2024, particularly on the economy, while much of the blame for the Democratic loss has been directed at former President Joe Biden for not stepping aside sooner.

“I am not done,” Harris said. “I have lived my entire career as a life of service and it's in my bones.” She added that her grandnieces would, “in their lifetime, for sure,” see a female president, and when asked if it could be her, she replied, “possibly.”

On polls that rank her behind other contenders, including actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Harris said she never listened to such predictions. “If I listened to polls I would have not run for my first office, or my second office — and I certainly wouldn't be sitting here.”

Harris also reiterated her warnings about Trump’s leadership style, saying his promises to weaponize the Department of Justice have come true. “He said he would weaponise the Department of Justice — and he has done exactly that,” she said.
