Karabakh airports open up opportunities for tourism development - official
The Azerbaijani Small and Medium Business Development Agency chairman Orkhan Mammadov has said that new airports in the Azerbaijani liberated territories create an opportunity for tourism development.
Mammadov made the remarks at the event "Tourism business: current situation and prospects" in Baku, according to Report.
"Fuzuli and Zangilan international airports are currently in operation. The Lachin airport is expected to open at the end of the year or early next year. This creates an opportunity for tourism development in these regions," he said.
Mammadov said the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had a negative impact on Azerbaijan's tourism sector, and work is underway to bring pre-pandemic levels back.
"The Azerbaijani state is interested in the development of the non-oil sector, specifically tourism, and constantly provides support to this sector," the agency head added.
