Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan launch joint venture for green energy corridor project
On July 1, 2025, the governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan formalised the establishment of a joint venture, Yaşıl Dəhliz Birliyi LLC, tasked with the implementation of the Azerbaijan-Central Asia Green Energy Corridor initiative.
According to an official statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy, the signing ceremony was held at the Ministry’s premises and was dedicated to both the formation of Yaşıl Dəhliz Birliyi LLC and the ratification of its charter, Caliber.Az reports, citing domestic media.
The agreement was executed by Ziyaddin Guliyev, Vice President of Azərenerji JSC; Saltanat Shunaeva, Head of the Department of the Kazakhstan Electric Grid Management Company; and Feruz Kurbonov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC.
Furthermore, it was mutually agreed to appoint Farhad Mammadov as Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed joint venture, which will operate out of Baku.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Elnur Soltanov, underscored the strategic importance of the “Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of green energy development and transmission,” which was signed by the heads of state during the COP29 climate conference.
He further highlighted the program for the project’s implementation, a collaborative effort involving the three Central Asian countries and the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia.
The project’s execution was underscored as vital for enhancing energy security, fulfilling sustainable development targets, and furthering the green energy initiatives of the three countries.
