Kazakh president Tokayev signs decree dismissing justice minister Yeskaraev
Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree relieving Azamat Yeskaraev from his position as Minister of Justice.
The statement did not specify the reasons for his dismissal, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Azamat Yeskaraev was appointed head of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Justice in January 2023. According to his biography on the ministry's website, he has held various positions in public service since 2000.
After the resignation of Kazakhstan's government, led by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, in early 2024, Yeskaraev retained his post in the new cabinet under the leadership of Olzhas Bektenov.
Yeskaraev's resignation in the current cabinet marks the second such departure, following the dismissal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy, Nurlan Baibazarov, on 21 December 2024 by Tokayev.
