Kazakhstan, China discuss expansion of container transportation along Middle Corridor
Kazakhstan's KTZ Express, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways), and China's Yixinou Trading Service Group Co. Ltd (Yixinou) have discussed the prospects for the development of container transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM, Middle Corridor).
"A meeting was held in Astana between the management of KTZ Express and representatives of Yixinou. The main topic of discussion was the prospects for developing container transportation to European Union countries, Central Asia, and along the TMTM," Caliber.Az reports, citing the KTZ report.
According to KTZ, special attention was paid to increasing transportation volumes from the Chinese province of Zhejiang, which, due to its strategic location and developed transport infrastructure, is a key hub for international logistics and trade.
"As a result of the negotiations, an agreement on strategic cooperation was signed. The document provides for the implementation of joint initiatives to increase container transport volumes and develop key routes," the report notes.
Yixinou is the only private operator of the container train logistics platform on the China-Europe route.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, is an international transport route that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and then on to Türkiye and European countries.
