Kazakhstan denies reports of full CPC shutdown

01 August 2026 13:47

Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan has rejected reports suggesting a possible complete shutdown of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), stating that such a scenario is not under consideration.

“Information has appeared in certain media about a possible complete shutdown of the CPC. This scenario is not being considered,” the ministry said, according to Caliber.Az, citing Kazakh media.

According to officials, CPC has temporarily suspended oil transportation since July 31. However, the intake of crude from shippers continues, along with the filling of storage facilities.

As of August 1, oil intake volumes stand at approximately 100,000 tonnes per day. The ministry noted that any further increase in transportation volumes will depend on the timely arrival of tankers for loading at the marine terminal.

The ministry added that it remains in constant coordination with CPC and oil shippers, emphasising that the situation is under control.
