Kazakhstan deploys peacekeepers to Lebanon under UNIFIL mission
Kazakhstan has deployed a contingent of peacekeepers to Lebanon to serve under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the country’s Ministry of Defence said.
A group of 11 Kazakh servicemen has arrived in southern Lebanon, where they will operate as part of an Indian military contingent within the UN mission.
According to the ministry, the peacekeepers have begun carrying out duties that include monitoring compliance with the ceasefire, assessing the security situation within their area of responsibility, and engaging with local authorities and civilian populations. They are also tasked with escorting humanitarian operations.
Additional responsibilities include conducting patrols, guarding United Nations facilities, and supporting broader efforts to maintain stability in the region, in line with the mandate set by the UN Security Council.
