Kim Jong Un: North Korea achieves nuclear deterrence
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has declared that the country has successfully accomplished its nuclear deterrence mission, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
Speaking during a report at a congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Kim stated that over the past five years, the country had fulfilled a key historic and political task, guaranteeing the DPRK’s nuclear policy.
He said the Korean People’s Army has responsibly carried out its mission of deterring “aggressive wars” through nuclear weapons.
According to Kim, the military has “vigilantly monitored” routine military exercises by North Korea’s adversaries, decisively suppressed reckless provocations, maintained regional balance, and reliably safeguarded the nationwide struggle for the comprehensive development of socialism.
Kim also emphasised that the WPK has set a course toward building the world’s strongest army. He added that the DPRK is prepared to deliver immediate retaliation in the event of an attack by any forces.
