Kim Jong-un proposes awarding developers of new Hwasong 17 ICBM
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has proposed awarding the developers of a new intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong 17.
The North Korean leader, who took part in the test launch of the missile, called the work on it "a special contribution to the epochal strengthening of strategic forces", KCNA reports.
He added that just over 10 people were involved in developing the weapon.
Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said the new Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) would enhance the DPRK's ability to launch a counterattack nuclear strike.
The publication noted that Kim Jong-un "expressed satisfaction with the results of the launch."
The DPRK conducted its first test of a new long-range solid-propellant ballistic missile, the Hwasong-18, on April 13.
