King Charles III could skip Buckingham Palace as main home

Buckingham Palace may not regain its status as the primary residence of the British monarch after its extensive decade-long renovation is completed, Bild reports, citing a royal palace source and the monarchy's annual financial report.

According to the newspaper, King Charles III and Queen Camilla are not expected to move into the refurbished palace.

The source said the monarch prefers living at Clarence House and feels more comfortable away from central London.

Heir to the throne Prince William is also reportedly not planning to relocate and intends to keep his Windsor home as his London-area residence, where he lives with his family.

Buckingham Palace will, however, retain its role as the British monarchy's main administrative and ceremonial centre.

It will continue to host state receptions, audiences, official visits, and investiture ceremonies, while also serving as the headquarters of the King's household.
