King Charles III urges joint action to support Ukraine
King Charles III has called for decisive, coordinated action to protect Ukraine and its citizens, praising their bravery.
During an address to the United States Congress, he said after the events of September 11, 2001, when NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time and the United Nations Security Council stood united in the face of terror, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Telergam channel ASTRA.
“We answered the call together – as our people have done so for more than a century, shoulder to shoulder, through two World Wars, the Cold War, Afghanistan and moments that have defined our shared security. … Today, Mr Speaker, that same unyielding resolve is needed for the defence of Ukraine and her most courageous people,” Charles III noted.
King Charles III, accompanied by Queen Camilla, is on a 4-day visit to the United States.
The visit is part of a broader state itinerary that includes meetings and a garden party at the British ambassador’s residence.
The address King Charles delivered to the US Congress was the second such address by a British monarch after Queen Elizabeth II in 1991.
