Knesset member calls war “enormous blessing” for Israel

Member of the Israeli Knesset Ze’ev Elkin has described the ongoing conflict as “an enormous blessing for the State of Israel,” saying discussions should focus not on when the war will end, but on “how we can extend and deepen the damage," Al Jazeera reports.

Elkin’s remarks follow a statement from Defence Minister Israel Katz, who confirmed that the Israeli military has authorisation to target senior Iranian officials.

The war has already taken a heavy toll across the region, with at least 1,444 fatalities reported in Iran, 968 in Lebanon, and at least 17 in Israel.
