Kremlin: No plans to restrict YouTube access in Russia
Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russian authorities do not intend to restrict access to YouTube.
He clarified that any potential issues are due to the aging local equipment of the company, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
"There are no plans to restrict access to YouTube. Official statements from the relevant companies indicate that this issue stems from equipment that hasn't been updated in over two years. There's no other explanation," Peskov said in response to a query about whether Russia plans to limit YouTube access.
Previously, rumors circulated that Russia intended to completely block YouTube in September. Reports suggested that YouTube would experience degradation throughout July and August, slowing down or crashing in some regions, before being blocked in September.
