Kuwait activates air defences after missile, drone attack

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence said early on May 28 that the country came under a missile and drone attack, prompting the activation of its air defence systems.

In a statement posted on X, the ministry said that “any explosions are the result of air defence operations to intercept hostile targets," Caliber.Az reports.

Initial reports indicated no casualties or damage.

Authorities did not immediately identify the source of the attack, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Gulf states periodically reporting attempted strikes or aerial incursions in recent months, including in the wider area surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
