Kuwait extends airspace closure as restrictions remain in force
20 April 2026 09:01
Kuwait’s airspace, which was closed on February 28 following the start of the US and Israeli military operation against Iran, remains shut for the 52nd consecutive day, a source in Middle Eastern air traffic control services told TASS.
“Aviation authorities in Kuwait have extended the flight ban for at least another 12 hours — until 16:00 UTC,” the source said. The timing is indicative, and further extensions of the restriction cannot be ruled out.
The source also emphasised that Kuwait is currently the only country in the region that has not fully or partially reopened its airspace amid ongoing instability in the Middle East.
