Kuwait issues protest to Iraq over attacks by armed groups
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has delivered a formal protest note to the Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires following attacks by Iraqi armed groups on Kuwaiti territory.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media, in a statement, Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Al-Daihani warned the Iraqi diplomat that “launching attacks against the State of Kuwait using Iraqi territory or the territory of any neighboring state amounts to a crime of aggression criminalized under international law and contradicts the principles of territorial integrity."
He further “emphasized the importance of the Republic of Iraq taking practical and tangible steps to address and halt such attacks,” the ministry said.
According to the statement, on March 3, Iraqi Shiite armed groups carried out strikes on Kuwaiti territory, causing casualties among civilians and military personnel, as well as significant material damage and losses.
Kuwait has stressed the need for immediate action to prevent further incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity.
