Kuwait reopens its airspace after two-month shutdown
Kuwait has reopened its airspace at Kuwait International Airport, allowing flights to resume immediately, the civil aviation authority has said.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency that the decision followed coordination with national and international aviation authorities to ensure safe operations, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
DGCA chief Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said air traffic would gradually return “in accordance with the highest safety and security standards.”
He added that maintenance and repair work on damaged facilities was underway, with initial operations focused on selected destinations.
Kuwait had closed its airspace following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28, which triggered retaliatory attacks by Iran and its regional allies against Israeli and U.S. interests across the region, including Kuwait.
