Kuwait reports renewed Iranian strike on critical infrastructure
A power generation and water desalination facility in Kuwait has come under a renewed attack from Iran, sparking a fire at the site, the country’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced.
“As a result of the Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, a power generation and water desalination plant was attacked, leading to fires at parts of the facility’s infrastructure and the shutdown of a large number of generating units,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that firefighting teams responded immediately and have largely brought the blaze under control.
Technical crews, working alongside security forces, are assessing the damage and seeking to restore affected units to operation as quickly as possible.
Kuwaiti authorities once again urged citizens and residents to show solidarity by reducing electricity consumption to the greatest extent possible.
