Kyiv claims majority of 117 Russian drones shot down in overnight raid PHOTO
Ukraine’s air defences shot down or suppressed most of a large overnight Russian drone assault, the Armed Forces of Ukraine said, as Moscow continued its sustained aerial campaign.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine said Russia launched 117 strike drones of the “Shahed”, “Gerbera” and “Italmas” types, alongside decoy drones designed to overwhelm air defence systems.
According to preliminary data, air defence units — including aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups — intercepted or suppressed 102 drones by 08:00 local time.
The military said 14 strike drones hit seven locations, while falling debris from downed drones was recorded at eight additional sites.
“The attack is ongoing, with several Russian UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace. Please follow safety procedures,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
