Kyiv declares day of mourning after deadly Russian attack
Authorities in Kyiv have declared May 15 a day of mourning following a deadly Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital that left multiple casualties, according to official statements.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that eight people were killed and 45 others injured in the strike.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that a day of mourning will be observed across the city on May 15 to honour the victims of what he described as the most massive enemy attack on the capital.
“Tomorrow, May 15, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. In memory of the victims of the most massive enemy attack on the capital. On this day, flags will be lowered on all municipal buildings of the city. It is also recommended to lower state flags on buildings of state and private ownership. On May 15, any entertainment events in the city are prohibited. Work to clear the rubble in the damaged building in the Darnytskyi district of the capital is ongoing. At present, it is known for certain that 7 people have been killed. Rescue workers continue the search and rescue operation,” Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
