Kyiv declares July 3 day of mourning after deadliest attack on capital PHOTO
Kyiv authorities have declared July 3 a day of mourning for those killed in what officials described as the most massive attack on the Ukrainian capital, following severe damage to the city’s residential infrastructure, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced.
“On this day, flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings across the city. It is also recommended that state flags be lowered on government and privately owned buildings. All entertainment events in the city are prohibited on July 3. The search-and-rescue operation at the damaged building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district is ongoing. People are still believed to be trapped under the rubble,” Klitschko said in a statement.
During the night of July 2, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and drones. At least 18 people were killed, and another 85 were injured in the strike.
