Kyiv denies secret F-16 squadron involvement of US, Dutch pilots
The head of communications for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, dismissed claims published by the French outlet Intelligence Online about the creation of a secret F-16 squadron in Ukraine involving American and Dutch pilots.
The article suggested that the squadron plays a key role in defending Kyiv’s airspace and that its members reportedly intercept Russian cruise missiles and drones, Caliber.Az reports.
In a Facebook post, Ignat debunked the rumours, affirming that all combat sorties are carried out exclusively by Ukrainian pilots.
“Aha! And the squadron is led by Tom Cruise,” Ignat joked, sharing a still from the movie Top Gun featuring the actor as a fighter pilot.
“Meanwhile, Ukrainian pilots flying Western aircraft once again showcased their skill and professionalism in shooting down enemy cruise missiles and drones. This morning, most of the cruise missiles were taken out by them!” he wrote.
