Kyiv man faces eight years for revealing Ukrainian air defence locations
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a Kyiv resident who allegedly disseminated videos exposing the positions of Ukrainian air defence units during Russian attacks on the capital.
Authorities reported that the man, who resided on the top floor of a multi-story building, filmed the operation of air defence systems targeting enemy aerial threats. He then shared the videos in a Telegram group chat and on the Instagram page of his business, which boasts over 13,000 followers. According to the SBU, this information could have been exploited by the enemy to plan further strikes on Kyiv.
During searches of his residence, law enforcement officers seized a smartphone containing evidence of his illegal activities. The individual now faces up to eight years in prison.
The SBU emphasized that the publication of photos and videos depicting the activities of the Defence Forces or the aftermath of attacks is strictly prohibited. Disseminating such information is regarded as assisting enemy targeting and constitutes a criminal offense under Ukrainian law.
