Kyiv prepares emergency food reserves for winter

Kyiv is preparing food and drinking water reserves in case of emergencies and disruptions to the city’s energy system during the upcoming winter.

According to Ukrainian media reports, Oleg Kuyavsky, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration for the Exercise of Self-Governing Powers, said the capital has established and is continuously maintaining sufficient reserves of key food products as part of preparations for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter period.

The reserves are primarily intended to support low-income residents in the event of disruptions to the power system.

The stockpiled supplies will also be available for use at Points of Invincibility during prolonged electricity outages, to assist people affected by emergencies, and to support workers involved in emergency response, rescue operations and other urgent activities.

The preparations are aimed at ensuring that essential food supplies remain available to vulnerable residents and emergency personnel should the city face prolonged disruptions during the winter period.
