Kyiv resumes talks on MiG-29 fighter jet deal, Polish defence minister says
Ukraine has returned to negotiations on a proposed agreement under which it would receive Polish MiG-29 fighter jets in exchange for providing access to drone-related technologies, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced.
Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the Ukrainian side had resumed discussions and said Poland is prepared to assist with the modernisation of the aircraft if Kyiv considers it necessary.
He stressed, however, that any modernisation costs should be covered either by Ukraine or by allied countries.
“We are open to discussion: if Ukraine sees a need for modernisation, we can help, but the costs should be covered by the Ukrainian state or its allies,” the Polish defence minister noted.
He added that reaching an agreement is possible, but emphasised that “the principle of reciprocity and genuine solidarity must be respected.”
