Kyrgyz FM holds talks with EU, Iranian top diplomats in New York PHOTO

Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev held separate meetings with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry said.

During his talks with Kallas, Kulubaev discussed prospects for expanding Kyrgyzstan’s cooperation with the European Union, with particular attention to joint investment projects in transport, energy, the green economy and digitalisation.

The two officials also addressed measures to prevent possible sanctions circumvention and agreed to maintain dialogue on the issue, the ministry said.

Kulubaev separately met with Araghchi to discuss bilateral ties, as well as regional and international developments.

The two ministers also reviewed the implementation of agreements reached by the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Iran during their meeting in Bishkek on August 31.

The meetings took place during the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly, whose general debate is being held in New York from September 22 to 26.

Kyrgyzstan has been holding a series of bilateral meetings with foreign officials on the sidelines of the UN session, including talks focused on expanding trade, investment and political cooperation.
