Kyrgyz President Japarov proposes UN co-host Global Mountain Summit
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has proposed that the United Nations become a co-organiser of the “Bishkek +25” Global Mountain Summit.
Japarov made the proposal during a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in Kyrgyzstan, where they discussed international issues and prospects for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Japarov also outlined Kyrgyzstan’s priorities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, including strengthening international peace and security, increasing the role of small and developing states in international affairs, and addressing climate challenges and issues affecting mountain regions.
Guterres arrived in Kyrgyzstan to attend the “SCO Plus” summit and the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games.
