Kyrgyzstan acquits ex-president of riots of 2020

Kyrgyzstan’s ex-President Almazbek Atambaev has been acquitted of the riots and attempt to seize power in 2020.

Besides the ex-president, the court acquitted a number of his associates, namely, ex-head of the presidential administration Farid Niyazov, former deputy interior minister Kursan Asanov, bodyguard Kanat Sagynbaev, according to Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

Atambayev remains in custody, as he was also convicted in another corruption case.
