Kyrgyzstan, China sign treaty on eternal friendship, cooperation
Kyrgyzstan and China have signed a treaty on eternal good-neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation as part of a meeting between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Japarov said the document would provide a solid foundation for further developing the countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
He thanked Xi Jinping for his state visit and said relations between the two countries have reached a historic high.
Japarov described China as one of Kyrgyzstan’s main foreign policy priorities and its key trade and investment partner, noting that cooperation between the two countries had entered a “new, golden period of development.”
The president also stressed the importance of joint projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, including transport infrastructure development and the opening of new border checkpoints.
