Kyrgyzstan detains former deputy presidential envoy in corruption case
The former deputy plenipotentiary representative of the Kyrgyz president in Chui Region has been arrested.
Samat Ismanov was detained on corruption charges and taken into custody on November 14, with a court ordering his placement in pre-trial detention (SIZO-1) until January 12, Caliber.Az reports per Kyrgyz media.
It became known that the former official is a suspect in a case involving the illegal allocation of land plots in the 172nd sector of Kok-Zhar village.
Ismanov served as deputy plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Chui Region from November 2022 and submitted his resignation last week.
It is not yet known whether the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers has signed the official order on this matter.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Military Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal case on alleged abuse of official powers and launched an investigation. A total of 17 individuals are listed as suspects.
